Bolognese Madness

Slide1

What could taste better than a most luscious, full-flavoured, Mediterranean Bolognese ?  Now that’s my feeling – but the comfort and anticipation of the culinary pleasure one receives from this simple yet delicious sauce is truly fulfilling and magnificent – the house is filled with the aroma it emits, and the anticipation of dinner is just filled with joy.  I make many versions, and here is one for you to make and enjoy any time […]

Turkish Style Zucchini & Leek Pie

Slide2

Inspired by a Turkish recipe – zucchini, onion and feta fritters – which are usually fried, I opted for a bake instead.  I made this into a pie without the crust.  It’s very easy to make, and very tasty too. You can make this a day ahead of serving if you wish.  Kids love it.  Serve with a mixed salad of your choice, or better still try my Middle Eastern Style salad with it. http://mouthwateringvegan.com/2012/07/23/mouthwatering-middle-eastern-style-salad/ […]

Mamma Mia Mushroom Calzone with Cheezy Pumpkin Filling & Mapled Pizza Crust

Slide1

I used to love calzone, and I happened to make some great vegan cheese yesterday – and here I used a combination of the two.  Meanwhile, I purchased some super mushrooms for the filling, and made a homemade tomato and pumpkin sauce for a Halloween twist, and boy, oh boy did this fatso work !  The crust was inspired from my non-vegan days, when I had tasted a crust with honey drizzle – only this […]

Hearty Creamy Leek & Mushroom Pies

Slide1

Crisp on the outside, moist and delicious on the inside.  These pies are going to be a staple this winter.  Because they are so easy to make, and so delicious – and also because the requests at our table were so full of cheer and enthusiasm for making them again.  So I am sharing with you a wondrous English-influenced pie (love the Brits for this), that is so mouthwatering that this winter is going to […]

Soup For The Soul – Stew For The Heart

Slide2

This creation was a revelation in the art of wholesome pick me ups, warm me all, fill me up combinations – a soup and stew marriage, that embraces and pampers the senses.  Because it was almost impossible to define as either one or the other, it is one of those ‘twin recipes’ – but who cares about that ?  Taste and texture are always my No.1 priority, together with colour, passion – and a sense […]

Semi-Raw Chocolate Cake With Double Layered Frosting

Slide1

I had a mixture of 3 nuts and I wanted to make a flourless cake. I am nuts over nuts, and coconuts too, so here I have combined ingredients to bring you 3 exciting layers of a semi-raw cake, which is very rich in taste, but moreish and enormously chocolaty for that extra choco-kick.  I hope you enjoy it, and my only tip is leave it in the fridge overnight, and place in the freezer […]

Mint Chocolate Custard Pots

Slide2

Mint & Chocolate – a solid marriage made to last.  A super after-dinner meal, particularly if you have guests, and have put a lot of effort into preparing dinner.  Well, this is smooth and absolutely sublime. TIP : Best made the night before. INGREDIENTS 10 fl oz (295 mL) vegan milk 6 fl oz (180 mL) water 2½ Tbsp cornstarch 3 Tbsp cocoa powder 3 Tbsp (45 mL) agave syrup 50g dark chocolate, broken into […]

Pizza Baba Ganoush

Slide2

I made Baba Ganoush, and felt like having it with some salad and pita – I didn’t have any pita bread at home, so I thought a pizza base would do the trick instead.  And did it just !  I served it with my raw coleslaw salad & mayo, and it was irresistible !!!  I have just seen this dish described as  follows “this sounds like an appetizer, main course and side dish all wrapped […]
